Tackling climate change from the roots up

Project type

In Melbourne's leafy eastern suburbs, residents are transforming their natural environment.

Rewilding Stonnington is a community urban greening initiative bringing Indigenous and endemic vegetation back to this built-up area.

But according to Rewilding Stonnington President Alison Richards, this work is more than just getting trees in the ground, it’s about tackling climate change from the roots up.

“There are local groups all over the state and all over Melbourne who are working very hard, but not just to garden. We're not gardeners. We are working to restore and regenerate the environment,” Richards said.

This interactive, multi-media story allows readers to hear from the community leaders and experts themselves.
